Mediation is a process :
- Voluntary
- Confidential
- Flexible
- Efficient
Mediation is not :
- A trial (does not define the rights and obligations of the parties, does not settle the dispute)
- A therapy session
- An investigation
The benefits of mediation
Any person (patient or other) can :
- Be heard by the physician;
- re-establish communication;
- Preserve the therapeutic relationship in a context of physicians shortage;
- Attempt to find a solution adapted to his or her interests.
For the physician :
- Have their point of view heard;
- Possibility of making changes to practice in the future, thereby reducing the risk of new requests for investigation;
- Minimize the anxiety and stress associated with an investigation.
