Restrictive permits
Find out more about restrictive permist and how to convert to a regular permit.
These permits, issued by the Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ), allow an international medical graduate to perform certain professional acts.
They come with restrictions on 3 aspects:
- place of practice (institutional practice only, not liberal or private practice);
- authorized professional acts;
- duration (1 year, renewable annually).
The Admission on Practice Committee (CAE) decides on the issuance, renewal and modification of restrictive permits.
Restrictive licenses may be converted to regular licenses under certain conditions.
